Olena Ruth has been passionately defending her clients against the IRS, state, and local tax authorities for 9 years. She recently became a Partner at Merriam Law Firm, where she has worked as an Associate for eight years. Olena grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine. She received her first law degree in Kyiv, where she worked as a corporate and tax attorney for a few years before coming to the United States. After receiving her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, she went on to earn her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver, and has been practicing tax controversy defense ever since. She enjoys being an active member of the Denver tax law community: serving as the Treasurer of the CBA Tax Section Council, volunteering her time as a pro-bono attorney at Tax Court to assist and guide pro-se taxpayers through the system, and attending various events hosted by the Greater Denver Tax Council Association and Colorado Bar Association.
Olena is a passionate triathlete, who competes in half- and full-course Ironman distances. She also likes to ski with her swim team friends and walking her 120lbs Doberman, Rae.
