Joseph H. Thibodeau

Joseph H. Thibodeau is in his 51st year in the practice of law, limiting his practice, principally, for all but two of those years, to civil and criminal tax and aviation controversy resolution. A frequent lecturer and author, from 1983 to 1998 he served as an adjunct professor (Civil and Criminal Tax Procedure) in the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program.  From 1983 – 2009, he appeared annually as a panelist and moderator on the American Bar Association (Tax Section) National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud.

Mr. Thibodeau is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, and, for 30 years, has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America); Who’s Who In Practicing Attorneys; and, Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.  In May, 2001, he was listed in 5280, Denver’s Mile-High Magazine as one of Denver, Colorado’s top 100 lawyers; and, from 2006 to the present, as one of Colorado’s Super Lawyers, in the same publication.  In 2012, he was honored by Best Lawyers as “Denver Best Lawyers Litigation and Tax Controversy – Tax Lawyer of the Year“. In 2013, he was awarded the ABA Tax Section, Jules Ritholz Memorial Merit Award, and the CBA Tax Section, James E. Bye Lifetime Achievement Award, both in recognition of outstanding dedication, achievements, and integrity in the field of civil and criminal tax controversies. In 2015 Mr. Thibodeau was selected by 5280 as Denver’s Top Lawyers.
