Our Client a well-known Investment/Family Office, in the Boston area, is seeking a Director of Tax. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer of the Firm, and will be responsible for a small staff of Tax professionals. The Director of Tax and will focus on providing planning and tax preparation services to a sophisticated client base consisting of high-net worth individuals, Trusts and Estates.  The Director will provide recommendations on improvements to the current vision, strategic direction, and technical needs and solutions to our Clients and will strive to implement best practices processes.

 Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, motivate, and challenge a dedicated staff.
  • Develop working relationships and interact regularly with the Senior Management Team, and act as their Advisor on complex tax and estate planning concepts and solutions.
  • Attend Executive Committee meetings.
  • Keep abreast of major tax law changes, taking a proactive approach.
  • Network with outside tax and legal professionals regarding client matters.
  • Maintain knowledge of and aptitude for technical systems.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts, rates and services; liaise with all vendor relationships.
  • Participate as a member of the Senior Management Team
  • Partner with Finance on developing and managing department budget

  •  The Ideal Candidate will have an undergraduate degree, and a CPA or MST, an LLM would be highly preferred.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 12-15+ years of experience with individual taxation, Trusts and or Estates in a Service Company/ or Family Office environment.
  • Experience with the creation and implementation of efficient tax planning strategies for high net worth individuals, is critical for consideration.
  • Candidates should have strong technical skills using MS Office, ProFx and AddVantage.


  • Compensation is expected to be in the $150k-$190k range, and include an excellent Benefits package.
